Trondheim was center of large doping ring busted in Norway

Norwegian law enforcement officers have busted a huge doping ring. More than 10 individuals linked with illegal operations were arrested. Six persons were sentenced to imprisonment.
According to affirmations of the newspaper Dagens N?ringsliv (DN), the doping ring was established in Trondheim. DN published own investigation related to illegal distribution of anabolic steroids in Norway. Police investigated the case.
It is supposed that a secret center is established in Trondheim. It controls illegal distribution of doping medications and money laundering.
The arrested persons were connected with bodybuilding, fitness and health industries in Norway. Some persons were arrested at their homes; others – in business offices, parking lots and tram stops.
Investigators believe that several persons are hidden by the names of Guru and Karma.
Robert Eilertsen is one of those who have been arrested. He is an operator and editor of a fitness blog. This person coached famous sportspeople within football, boxing, handball, etc.
It is suspected that Eilertsen and some other individuals have provided dangerous doping medications to Norwegian youth during many years.
Circa 60 police officers were involved in raids. The raids resulted in 11 arrests.
Since the investigation continues, police officers report nothing about their further actions.
Norwegian customs officers and tax authorities were also involved in the investigation.
Many computers and some documents were confiscated during raids of homes, business officers, cars, etc.
Eilertsen and Gunnar Strand Jacobsen, another arrested man, have denied their connections with doping products. Jacobsen is the owner of Kaliber Gym in Trondheim, one of the most prominent gyms in Norway. Jacobsen was personal trainer of athletes that got prizes. He coached athletes who attended to various sports. He is claimed to be a high-qualified nutrition expert.
The raid was called “Operation Gilde”.
Eilertsen and Jacobsen are charged with sale of doping preparations and money laundering.

Large amounts of steroids, sex stimulants, cars and properties were seized by Spain’s police from illegal drug ring

Spain’s policemen arrested Scott Boote, a person, who was involved in illicit operations connected with an international drug ring manufacturing stimulants that increase sexual desire. Huge quantities of preparations were seized by police officers. It was estimated the street value of these drugs. It was confirmed that it was almost ?3 million. A citizen of the UK, a 72-year-old man from Liverpool, was also questioned. According to statements of police, these two persons produced 8 new sexual stimulants and sold them per internet without examining patients. Six other individuals were also questioned during this investigation. Investigators noticed that the persons that were implicated in this illegal drug ring purchased vehicles and another property due to sale of illegal sex products. Certain bank accounts were blocked by police. Over 100,000 doses of anabolic steroids, properties and vehicles were confiscated.
A spokesperson for Spanish police stated that all members of the drug ring lived quite luxuriously. They possess many properties and luxury cars. They purchased properties abroad in order to hide the shaded business. Investigators defined that the ring offered for sale sex enhancement drugs for both males and females. The medications were offered for sale on internet. Persons from the whole world could get the medications. Thus, people from the USA, the UK, Thailand, Malaysia, etc. were customers that acquired medicines from this ring. Three factories were established in Costa del Sol. Police officers believe that those that were manufacturing the medications didn’t possess proper knowledge for this purpose. According to them, the persons who were involved in the drug ring managed also legal business in order to hide the illicit one. They put efforts to provide legitimate appearance to illicit operations. Certain commercial companies were established by these people in order to mask the profits obtained due to illegal drug trade.
Boxes that had to be sent to customers were also found by police. Anabolic steroids were also found and confiscated by law enforcement officers. Packages, labels and leaflets were also found in possession of the arrested persons.

British motorists blame steroids for improper behavior during driving

However it is not yet proven scientifically whether “roid rage” is an adverse consequence of steroids, these products are blamed for some crimes quite frequently.
Michael Barton, a young man from Britain, hit a Ford Fiesta, while he was driving his Volkswagen Golf. Paul Gard was a motorist of Ford Fiesta. Barton had passed Paul Gard. But then he had to pull back in front of Paul Gard, since another car was driving the other way. Paul Gard flashed him. Thus, he had to brake suddenly. Barton became angered, stopped his car, broke the wing mirror of Gard’s vehicle and hit the man in the face. Then Gard’s wife took her mobile and informed police. While she was calling, Barton left calmly.
Michael Barton, a 21-year-old person who has a child of two years old, utilizes steroids to bulk up. So, it has been said that these medications affected his behavior. The defense attorney for Michael Barton affirmed that steroids influenced negatively on temperament of his client, since these medications enhanced his levels of testosterone.
Earlier Barton was convicted for certain crimes, including domestic violence. Last year this young person pleaded guilty to an assault, criminal damage and driving incautiously due to his anger following assaults.
The judge Patrick Hooton at Portsmouth Crown Court Deputy Circuit confirmed that he was not sure that steroids were responsible for his improper behavior. But he noted that it was totally mad to get angered and hit a man in the face just because he flashed him. The judge noted that Barton’s behavior was too disgraceful and he announced: “you ought to go to prison”.
Thus, this person was sentenced to 6-month jail sentence suspended for a year; he was also sentenced to pay 500 dollars in compensation and ?277 for damage of the Ford Fiesta.

New ways to hide testosterone use

Athletes become more and more sophisticated in steroid use. They study new ways to mask their usage of forbidden medications. Certain sportspersons take time to study researchers’ statements that may help them to hide that they dope. Today a method has been found: sportspeople may mask application of testosterone with the help of green tea.
Testosterone is a hormone that is produced in body naturally. Thus, it may be difficult for anti-doping organizations to define that an athlete has administered testosterone. T: E ratio testing is commonly used by anti-doping organizations. Such tests may display unusual ratio of testosterone to epitestosterone in urine. But it doesn’t have capacity to display difference between testosterone which has been created in body naturally and that introduced into body with the help of injections, creams, etc.
Declan Naughton and his colleagues at Kingston University ( London) have determined that green tea has such compounds that are called “catechins”. They are capable to inhibit the enzyme UGT2B17. This enzyme induces attaching glucuronic acid to testosterone. In case UGT2B17 is inhibited, less testosterone glucoronide is excreted in urine.
Catechins, the substances which are able to mask intake of testosterone, are contained in green and white tea. Such compounds are not in black tea.
Naughton and his colleagues have conducted several experiments. They confirm that a cup of strong green tea mask usage of testosterone.
So, those sportspersons that administer testosterone can lower quantities of testosterone which are excreted in urine by consumption of green or white tea. Green or white tea has ability to block excretion of testosterone, enhancing circulating levels of this hormone.
The World Anti-Doping Agency was informed about the findings by the scientists. If this process occurs, it means that it is not worthy to apply urine tests. Blood tests should be performed in order to detect testosterone use.
Olivier Rabin, the WADA’s scientist, claims that regular checks of blood steroids will be added. Everything will be done by anti-doping officials in order to avoid fooling of urine tests.

Wim Vansevenant didn’t get doping products from Australia

The case linked with Wim Vansevenant, a former Belgian rider, changed surprisingly. An analysis displayed that the doping medicines that were ordered by him didn’t contain the contents enumerated on the labels. The former rider was cheated by the company where he ordered the medicines.
Last year some packages sent to Wim Vansevenant by an Australian company were intercepted by customs officials. According to the labels of  the intercepted  bottles,  they contained the doping product TB-500. It represents a peptide hormone which has ability to increase endurance and speed healing. An investigation was started by the Belgian authorities. It was thought that Wim Vansevenant supplied the Omega Pharma-Lotto team with doping preparations. This sportsperson rode professionally 10 years, from 1998 to 2008. Last 6 years of the career he was with this team.
An analysis of the bottles seized by customs manifested that just amino acids were presented. Wim Vansevenant’s lawyer confirmed that the case had to be dropped. He explained that since the preparation was not connected with doping, the former rider didn’t deserve to be punished.
Johan Lescrauwaet, the prosecutor’s spokesperson claimed that the contents didn’t correspond to the name of the product which was indicated on the label and to the affirmations of the former rider.
Only amino acids were discovered in the bottles. No any doping preparation. Thus, there is no any evidence that Wim Vansevenant provided doping preparations to other individuals.
The hearing of the former Belgian professional rider was scheduled to be later.

Bruce Goldberger’s testimonies will influence on decision of court in case against Roger Clemens

Testimonies of the famous toxicologist Bruce Goldberger will probably impact greatly on decision of the court in the case linked with Roger Clemens. Bruce Goldberger is the Professor of Pathology and Director of Toxicology at the University of Florida College of Medicine. This expert testified on behalf of Roger Clemens. However he was invited in order to replace Don Catlin, the director of the WADA UCLA Medicine, Goldberger’s testimonies differed from those which are usually provided by anti-doping organizations. He testified on behalf of the accused baseball player.
Bruce Goldberger is known due to his participation in various news programs. Even during such programs he doesn’t abstain from critical words. Bruce Goldberger criticized certain anti-doping organizations, including the WADA.
The toxicologist expressed criticism for feds in the case linked with Roger Clemens. They based on “beer can evidence” presented by McNamee to prove that Roger Clemens applied steroids and HGH. Brian McNamee, the former personal trainer of this baseball player, presented a beer can with utilized needles and syringes which had traces of such steroids, as Sustanon, Primobolan Depot and Deca Durabolin and were mixed allegedly with Roger Clemens’ blood.  The beer can was kept by McNamee over 6 years. The toxicologist noted that such basis wasn’t reasonable.
Bruce Goldberger claimed that it was impossible to base on “beer can evidence”. He noted that the accusation couldn’t be proven because the theory of contamination could present.
So, Bruce Goldberger didn’t support the affirmations of the feds. Earlier the toxicologist also expressed criticism related to evidence applied by some anti-doping agencies.
Several years ago Bruce Goldberger testified on behalf of Floyd Landis, an American celebrated cyclist, when this sportsperson appealed positives for steroids. A WADA-accredited lab situated in France discovered traces of exogenous testosterone; T: E ratio and carbon isotope ratio tests were used by the lab. Goldberger expressed similar words and criticism during the appeal connected with Floyd Landis.
Bruce Goldberger claimed during an interview that the WADA used inadequate methods and violated rights of athletes in order to achieve the success in anti-doping programs.
Floyd Landis didn’t have success in his appeal and admitted that he had used steroids, EPO and several other related products.
No one knows which results will be achieved by Roger Clemens. Will the federal prosecutors prove that he has lied before the Congress? Will he admit to taking forbidden medicines? Or will be the results contrary?

Rusty Hardin: lack of changes in physical appearance of Roger Clemens proves that he hasn’t used steroids

Every baseball fan knows that Roger Clemens is accused in obstruction of justice. It is said that he has lied before Congress about administration of steroids and HGH.
The attorney Rusty Hardin pointed out that there was no any difference in physical appearance of Roger Clemens before, during and after his working with the coach Brian McNamee. The attorney affirmed that this aspect proved that Roger Clemens hadn’t administered steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs.
Appearance of muscles is usually utilized by prosecutors as proof that an athlete applied steroids or/and other related medicines. But this tendency was not used during the case against Roger Clemens. No one could confirm that Roger Clemens’ muscles displayed that he had taken steroids and HGH. It is a difference between the case against Roger Clemens and that against Barry Bonds.
When it comes to the governmental case against Barry Bonds, prosecutors called numerous individuals in the trial that could testify that anabolic steroids caused substantial changes in physical appearance of this athlete. They confirmed that administration of steroids caused enhancement of muscle size, enhanced size of the head and testicular shrinkage in Barry Bonds.
So, Rusty Hardin provided four photos of Roger Clemens. The photos were made four different times during the baseball career of Roger Clemens, including the period of time when Clemens was working with Brian McNamee. Hardin pointed out that the pictures displayed that there was no difference in physical changes that could manifest that he used steroids and HGH.
Rusty Hardin noticed that the pictures manifested only the process of ageing. The masseur Cheryl Redfern also claimed that she didn’t observe any changes in physique of Roger Clemens. Roger Clemens experienced neither back acne, nor abnormal development of breast tissue, nor essentially enhanced muscle size.
The former Major League Baseball player Phil Garner also confirmed that there were not any significant changes in physical appearance and performance of Roger Clemens during working with Brian McNamee.
Steve Durham, the Assistant US Attorney put efforts to discredit the affirmation about lack of changes in Roger Clemens’ physical appearance during the cross-examination of the former baseball player Phil Garner. He noted that while some steroids enhanced muscle mass, others didn’t induce enhancing muscles. Thus, he affirmed that the photos could display nothing about steroid use.
Feds desire to take advantages in both cases: in the case against Roger Clemens and in that against Barry Bonds. While they claim that physical changes in Barry Bonds manifest that he has used steroids, lack of physical changes in Roger Clemens doesn’t prove that he hasn’t administered steroids.

More than 70 persons were murdered by steroid user in Norway

Anders Behring Breivik is a murderer of over 70 persons. He bombed buildings of government in Oslo (Norway). Teenagers of the Workers’ Youth League camp were also murdered by this criminal on Utoya island in July 2011.
This criminal trained for the crimes substantially. He noted that he had used steroid cycles.  Since he consumed steroids, these drugs were demonized for the deadly actions by many reporters.
But what did experts affirm? Joerge Moerland, a professor of forensic toxicology at the Norwegian Institute of Public Health, contested statements of these reporters. The physician Joerge Moerland affirmed that anabolic steroids didn’t contribute in rampage of this person. But the specialist acknowledged that he couldn’t contest that these products could cause aggressiveness in Breivik.
An “ECA stack”, a combination of caffeine, aspirin and ephedrine, was also used by the killer. In fact, this combination is commonly utilized by bodybuilders for fat burning and pre-workout stimulation. It was determined that the murderer has administered great amount of the combination. The quantity utilized by him was by 50 % greater than it is permitted under European Union’s rules.
The specialist Joerge Moerland claimed that Breivik’s behavior was more substantially affected by the ECA than steroids. He explained that ephedrine might cause desire to be involved in risky activities. Joerge Moerland claimed that the murderer’s central nervous system had been affected by ephedrine.
Nonetheless, the toxicologist Moerland noted about limitation of the ECA’ influence. The quantity of caffeine consumed by the murderer was equal to approximately 5 cups of coffee. So, the quantity was not enough enhanced in order to be blamed for the massacre.
The killer described his usage of steroids and dietary supplements in details. He also recommended other individuals purchasing steroids at Alinshop.
Anders Breivik noted that he didn’t like Dianabol because it could cause liquid retention. He noted that Dianabol could add more body weight than one could carry. According to his statements, circa 50 % of the mass gotten because of this medicine is fluid retention. Anders Breivik decided to apply several stacks that were appropriate for his needs.
Breivik studied advantages and disadvantages of various steroids in order to choose those who were suitable for his purposes. He claimed that Testosterone Propionate was better than Dianabol. He also suggested that stacks of Dianabol with Aromasin or administration of Dianabol followed by usage of Winstrol could benefit obviously.
Thus, Anders Breivik prepared for the massacre scrupulously. He spent time in order to study effects of steroids and plan steroid cycles and administration of dietary supplements. He also thought over each aspect related to attacks and murders.
However certain individuals thought that Breivik was legally insane, it’s wrong. It is evident that the crimes have been committed consciously.

Criminals use steroids in order to build threatening muscular bodies

According to the newspaper “The Sydney Morning Herald”, outlaw motorcycle gangs should be blamed for spread of illegal administration of steroids in Australia. The gangs have essential profit and low risks.
Nick Bingham, a detective, has noticed that New South Wales Police doesn’t focus on investigation linked with intake of steroids but anabolic steroids become targets of investigations, when outlaw motorcycle gangs are arrested for violation of other laws.
According to Nick Bingham, however New South Wales police officials don’t raid houses of gangs for steroids, they find them, when searches for weapons and psychostimulant drugs are conducted.
Nick Bingham has reported that they usually seize such amounts of steroids from motorcycle gangs that are just for personal intake. Quantities of other medicines which are usually found in possession of gangs are much greater than those of steroids.
Bingham has noticed that criminals prefer utilizing anabolic steroids in order to create threatening muscular bodies. They want to look big and strong.
Although Nick Bingham assures that gangs possess steroids only for personal usage, the newspaper “The Sydney Morning Herald” doesn’t agree with this statement. It is reported that motorcycle gangs are implicated in smuggling of steroids.
Although gyms are claimed to be the chief sources of steroids for bodybuilders, it is confirmed by “The Sydney Morning Herald” that several gyms have direct links with motorcycle gangs. The Herald claims that many seizures made by the Australian Customs and Border Protection Service are related closely to distribution of steroids by motorcycle gangs.
According to statements of Australian Customs, mail seizures of steroids have been enhanced essentially in comparison with past years.
Over 2, 000 seizures were made in 2009-2010 and over 5, 000 seizures of steroids were recorded in 2010-2011.
The majority of seizures were connected with self-administration of steroids imported by bodybuilders.

Judge Walton was asked to testify in trial related to Roger Clemens’ case

Federal prosecutors asked the judge Reggie Walton to permit the Cuban-American former Major League Baseball first baseman David Segui to testify in the trial related to the case of Roger Clemens. This player had a conversation with Brian McNamee, the former trainer of Roger Clemens. It is confirmed that they have spoken about steroid use by the former celebrated baseball player.
Brain McNamee was called to testify against Roger Clemens because he turned out to be the only person who had direct knowledge about intake of steroids and other related medicines by Clemens. Furthermore, he kept a beer can with vials, syringes and needles which were allegedly mixed with the blood of Roger Clemens. DNA analysis was conducted in order to determine whether the blood belonged really to Clemens.
Rusty Hardin, a defense attorney for Roger Clemens, claimed that the steroid evidence was created by Brian McNamee after the interrogation by federal prosecutors.
But prosecutors confirmed that David Segui told them that Brian McNamee said that he stored some things as evidence of steroid use by certain players in 2001. It was several years before the former trainer of Roger Clemens became the target of the investigation.
Information presented by Segui to federal prosecutors differed essentially from that provided to Jim Baumbach, a sportswriter. His words presented to Jim Baumbach were published in an article in 2008. According to that piece of news, Segui confirmed that he had never spoken about steroids with his friend Brian McNamee.
David Segui learnt about involvement of Brian McNamee into the case of Roger Clemens only in 2006, when he read an article in the Los Angeles Times.
David Segui said openly about personal intake of steroids and other related drugs. He said that he had been asked many times by players of the Major League Baseball whether he had taken steroids. This person acknowledged that he had applied them. But David Segui affirmed that he had never spoken about application of steroids with Brian McNamee.
Segui supported McNamee’s decision to save evidence about application of prohibited products by his clients. According to the former first baseman of the Major League Baseball, it is a correct decision because sometimes innocent persons are blamed but guilty persons are covered. So, Brian McNamee could help to reveal the truth.
However the judge Walton was asked to permit David Segui to present testimony in the trial connected with Roger Clemens, the judge didn’t announce his decision yet.

Golden Boy Promotions lost 250, 000 dollars due to positives of Lamont Peterson

The Haitian-American professional boxer Andre Berto tested positive for the steroid Nandrolone. The Voluntary Anti-Doping Agency (VADA) conducted the drug testing.
He had to fight against Victor Ortiz on June 23, 2012 in Los Angeles. Andre Berto agreed to submit to random drug testing before the fight. Both “A” and “B” urine samples indicated about usage of the anabolic steroid Nandrolone.
It was already the second time this month, when the VADA tested fighters and caught them applying steroids. The first boxer that tested positive this month due to tests conducted by the VADA was Lamont Peterson. He was scheduled to meet Amir Khan. It is quite ironically that Peterson requested random blood and urine testing. The drug test conducted by the VADA indicated that exogenous testosterone was in this boxer’s system some weeks before the match.
The tests conducted by the VADA impacted on financial position of certain companies obviously. For example, Golden Boy Promotions lost significant potential profit due to Lamont Peterson’s positives. It was estimated by Richard Schaeffer, the CEO of Golden Boy Promotions, that the company lost 250, 000 dollars.
The cancelation of the fight between Andre Berto and Victor Ortiz will probably not cost so much because another boxer will possibly replace Andre Berto and will meet Ortiz.
As for the boxer Andre Berto, he didn’t explain what had caused his positives. This boxer hired the attorney Howard Jacobs who would represent and defeat him.
Andre Berto confirmed that he had never administered steroids. So, he confirmed that he investigated with his attorney what could cause positives for steroids. Berto concluded that he had never cheated; he achieved success in sport due to hard work and dedication.
The attorney Howard Jacobs defeated numerous other athletes that turned out to be victims of fake food supplements.
It is said that since Nandrolone has quite long half life and it is detected easily, it is not widespread among dopers. But it has been displayed numerous times that certain food supplements contained the compound nandrolone that caused positives for steroids. But since sometimes not each substance is enumerated on the label, sportspersons become victims of contaminated sport supplements.

Nevada State Commission gave TUE to Chael Sonnen

The American fighter Chael Sonnen is allowed to use anabolic steroids. The physician Timothy Trainor claimed that this sportsman actually suffered from hypogonadism.
What does this disease represent? Hypogonadism is related to insufficient production of the hormone testosterone. Health care providers commonly indicate hormone replacement therapy in order to treat this disease.
The fighter Chael Sonnen has received a therapeutic use exemption (TUE). Thus, this fighter is allowed to use steroids for medical needs and fight against Anderson Silva at UFC 148 in July 2012.
According to prescription of Sonnen’s doctor, he has to apply injections of Testosterone Enanthate and Testosterone Cypionate twice weekly. The dosages that are indicated have not been discussed. But under rules of the Nevada Athletic Commission, blood serum levels of testosterone in this mixed martial artist should be within normal range on the morning after the match with Silva.
According to the doctor Trainor, those that compete with TUE must be tested on the morning after the match to learn whether they have utilized something right before the match.
The physician Trainor thinks that testosterone is able to produce performance-enhancing effects, if it is applied right before the fight. He claims that injections must not be introduced in the days before a match in order to prevent elevated levels of testosterone.
But it seems that the NAC is not aware that steroids produce effects connected with enhancement of performance, not only if they are applied right before competitions. Usage of steroids enhances performance during workouts before competitions. And the benefits remain even after sportspersons discontinue administering them.
The fighter Chael Sonnen had high testosterone levels at UFC 117. He argued that he had tested positive because he had been on TRT.  He appealed his suspension and it was reduced to 6 months from one year. But Chael Sonnen didn’t have any TUE that time.

World and Olympic champion was sentenced to prison due to drug trade

The world champion in weightlifting Galabin Boevski was sentenced to nine-month imprisonment because of illicit international drug trade. He was arrested in October 2011 at the Guarulhos International Airport in Brazil after he tried to board the plane with 8 kg of cocaine. This sportsperson was headed to Bulgaria. Cocaine was estimated. It could be sold at the price of 500, 000 dollars on the streets in European countries.
Galabin Boevski is a celebrated sportsperson in Bulgaria. He is claimed to be one of the most celebrated weightlifters in this country.
First he was caught administering steroids in 1995. Of course, he was sentenced to suspension.
Then this sportsperson was caught using banned medications in 2004. It was the second time when he violated doping laws. In fact, Boevski didn’t test positive for any forbidden medications. But anti-doping officials determined that he didn’t provide own urine. The urine which was provided by this athlete belonged to another person. As a result, Galabin Boevski was sentenced to 8-year suspension. During serving the suspension he was caught trafficking cocaine.
Galabin Boevski became famous due to his achievements in weightlifting. This sportsperson won gold medals at several competitions: at the 1999 World Weightlifting Championships in Athens, the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney and the 2001 World Weightlifting Championships in Antalya.
At the 2003 World Championships in Vancouver Galabin Boevski and his teammates from Bulgaria provided urine samples which belonged to another person. It was defined by anti-doping officials that the three urine samples were produced by one individual. These athletes were sentenced to suspensions. Galabi Boevski appealed the suspension but it was not successful.
Galabin Boevski broke certain world records at various competitions. He held 3 world records. The best lifts of this sportsman were following: a 162, 5 kg snatch, 196, 5 kg clean and jerk and a 357, 5 kg of two lifts at the 1999 Championships.
It is strange but this weightlifter’s reputation was not spoiled in Bulgaria. He used his status of celebrity in sports in order to establish a Technogym fitness center in Sofia. The center was named Atama Wellness and Spa.
Furthermore, Maria Isabel do Prado, the Brazilian judge, noticed that Boevski used also his status of celebrity in sports in order to smuggle the narcotic cocaine. She also noticed that this weightlifter utilized the participation of his daughter in a Brazilian tennis tournament to cover his illicit operations linked with smuggling of the narcotic.
Galabin Boevski claimed that he would appeal the conviction.

Federal prosecutors couldn’t reach their goal related to Roger Clemens’ case

The desire of the federal government linked with the case of Roger Clemens was following: they desired to prove that this sportsperson had lied before the Congress about administration of anabolic steroids and HGH. But the government couldn’t do it. It was expected that Andy Pettitte would tell the jury that Roger Clemens had admitted that he had applied the forbidden drugs during a conversation in 1999 or in 2000. But the affirmation of Andy Pettitee was shocking for prosecutors. This person stated that he couldn’t affirm that Roger Clemens had used steroids and HGH because he was not sure.
Actually, did the statement of Andy Pettitte shock the prosecutors? This man swore for the 2008 Congressional hearings on administration of steroids in the Major League Baseball that Roger Clemens admitted to usage of HGH. But he pronounced opposite statements at the Barrett Prettyman Federal Courthouse in Washington.
Michael Attanasio, a defense attorney for Roger Clemens, asked Andy Pettitte whether he can affirm that he is 50-50 that he has understood wrongly Roger Clemens about HGH. Pettitte answered that he is indeed 50-50 about this aspect.
When Clemens’ prosecutors heard Pettitte’s answer, they became confused. They affirmed that Pettitte never said this way, when he was asked certain times.
The U. S. District Court Judge Reggie Walton noticed that he understood that Andy Pettitte’s answer has been conflicted. Actually, his statement was following: “I don’t know”.
The attorneys for Roger Clemens utilized the moment of the federal prosecutors’ embarrassment. They requested the judge to ignore the testimony of Andy Pettitte because he was 50-50. The attorneys concluded that he probably misunderstood the athlete Roger Clemens or he forgot the details of the conversation.
The government has noted that the jury still allows taking into account the testimony of Andy Pettitte. ASUSA Dunham has claimed that under federal rules jury is allowed to choose which testimony to believe. He hopes that the jury will brush aside the testimony which doesn’t support the government.
Thus, the testimony presented by Andy Pettitte and his wife led to problems. Testimonies of his wife during the first trial resulted in the declaration of a mistrial by the judge Walton.
Pettitte affirms that he is a friend of Roger Clemens. Clemens must also confirm that they are friends after Andy  Pettitte’s last testimony.

Cop-killer used steroids

Police officials raided Cullen Mutrie’s house for a steroid investigation. This person shot 5 police officers at his home. As a result, the Greenland Police Chief Michael Maloney was killed; other four police officials were wounded. The next morning Cullen Mutrie and a woman were found dead.
It is suspected that this person was applying steroids at the time of the shootout. Jane Young, the New Hampshire Associate Attorney General, noted that toxicology reports were waiting in order to learn whether metabolites of steroids were in the body of this person.
Police officials confirmed that Cullen Mutrie had been a very muscular man. This man worked at Genetix Fitness in Seabrook. It was noted that he was 6 feet 3 inches tall. Cullen Mutrie weighed 275 pounds. During a search that was in July 2010 law enforcement officials found anabolic steroids at his home. The policeman Wayne Young saw them in a coffee table. He said that he had noticed a plastic bag with several vials. A vial was with powder; others contained solution. According to the labels, they were steroids.
The vials were analyzed by the New Hampshire State Crime Lab. It was affirmed that the vials contained such preparations, as Trenbolone Acetate, Sustanon 250, Boldenone Undecylenate and Nandrolone Decanoate.
The professor of kinesiology John Miller was asked whether a connection between the criminal actions and aggressiveness due to anabolic steroids could present. The specialist noticed that it was plausible. But according to him, it is impossible to confirm that there was a direct connection between usage of anabolic steroids and the crime.
John Miller suggested that steroids that were on the black market were provided from legal pharmaceutical companies. But he has been mistaken because the majority of steroids that are offered for sales on the black market are manufactured in underground labs. It is even suspected that Mutrie manufactured steroids.
Since a link between crimes and steroid use is a controversial issue, not only police officers but also correspondents investigate the case connected with Cullen Mutrie.

Alistar Overeem is victim of doctor’s quack

Alistar Overeem, a mixed martial artist, appealed his suspension which was received by him for administration of anabolic steroids in April 2012. But Alistar Overeem couldn’t win his appeal against members of NSAC. This fighter forfeited his license for 9 months. Then Alistar Overeem can obtain it again.
Alistar Overeem admitted that he had taken injectable testosterone which was prescribed him by his physician. Overeem utilized the strategy that was claimed to be boring. He claimed that he had never taken anabolic steroids or other related products intentionally. He tried to make the NSAC think that his injectable administration of steroids was accidental.
The defense attorney for Alistar Overeem was David Chesnoff who has been experienced in representing famous athletes.
The defense attorney called the personal health care provider of Alistar Overeem to testify during the appeal. It was believed that Dr. Molina would testify in defense for this athlete. Testimonies of this physician were quite pitiable. Dr. Molina presented an explanation for recommendations of several preparations which resulted in Overeem’s increased testosterone: epitestosterone ratio.
The treating doctor of Alistar Overeem acknowledged that he directed and injected this fighter with a mixture of Toradol and Dexamethasone because he suffered from an injury. In fact, these preparations are taken for anti-inflammatory needs. But administration of testosterone in case of injuries is not approved by the FDA.
It is suggested that the doctor Molina hasn’t informed his patient that these drugs contain the anabolic steroid testosterone. But it is obviously that he has never asked about it.
So, testimonies of the health care provider Molina turned out to show lack of the evidence related to medical needs for usage of forbidden preparations by Alistar Overeem. The health care provider couldn’t present any reasonable explanation that could justify recommendations of Toradol and Dexamethasone to his patient. Testimonies of the health care provider Molina worked against Alistar Overeem.
In fact, it was felt that Overeem was a victim of the physician’s quack.
But it is possible to suggest that this strategy was designed by the defense attorney for this athlete.
Pat Lundval, a commissioner, was probably impressed by the defense of Alistar Overeem. She even referred to him as to a “smart guy”.
The members of the NSAC seemed to be convinced that Overeem has been actually a great guy but he has surrounded himself with such questionable individuals, as the health care provider Moline. They recommended him to look for more qualified professionals in the future.
