Any athlete that comes to London for the 2012 Olympics may have steroids in luggage

Officers of the British government will be not capable to stop sportspersons importing steroids to the UK, when they come to participate in the 2012 Summer Olympics. However usage of steroids is prohibited in sports, personal administration of these medicines is legal in the UK. Just distribution of steroids is considered to be criminal in this country. Thus, if anybody attempts to import quantity of anabolic steroids that is evidentially large, he/she will not be permitted to do it.
Before Olympic Games took place in Australia, Canada and China, governments of these countries changed legislation related to import and intake of steroids at least temporally. But the British government doesn’t want to modify steroid legislation for the 2012 Summer Olympics.
Ironically, although the government of the UK refuses to make self-administration of steroids criminal, Britain athletes are banned for lifetime, if they administer anabolic steroids. As for the WADA Code, sportspeople who use banned medications are banned for 2 years.
Hugh Robertson, the Olympic minister, notices that it is necessary to have a universal policy linked with sentencing. He insists on at least 4 years or even longer.  While this minister is supported by the British Olympic Association, the UK Anti-Doping Agency doesn’t support such harsh punishment. The CEO of the UK Anti-Doping Agency Andi Parkinson states that some sanctions should be milder.
Hugh Robertson admits that there are various opinions in sports and it’s not well but he doesn’t ask the CEO of the UKAD to resign.
The spokesman for Hugh Robertson has noted that any sportsperson can have steroids in his/her luggage, when he/she arrives to London. But the amount of steroids should confirm that he/she has them only for self-administration. The spokesman has noted that it is not criminal for an athlete to take steroids under laws of the UK but if any athlete is caught using prohibited medications, he/she will be punished under anti-doping laws.
The UKAD noted that they would collaborate with border control officers. Information about athletes will be utilized by anti-doping officers.
5, 000 drug test, including 1, 000 blood tests will be conducted by the International Olympic Committee.
