American youth idolize their sports stars. They have already many such idols from the days of the baseball players Babe Ruth and Shoeless Joe Jackson till the stars of today: the football player Peyton Manning and the baseball player Derek Jeter. Youth observe and repeat their every move.
Isn’t it dangerous to idolize sports stars of nowadays? It may be risky. Nowadays sports heroes get millions of dollars due to intake of steroids. However the NFL and the MLB fight against doping, the war seems to be unsuccessful. Administration of steroids like cancer destructs sports. Although American youth are educated about serious adverse symptoms of these preparations, the results are not satisfactory.
It is said that youth are suppressed to take steroids. They try to meet the needed criteria of college admission; they adore current professional sportspeople. The all these aspects promote taking steroids.
Of course, all parents desire their children to succeed. If children go info sports, their parents desire them to win and to continue to play professionally. Children realize that it is not easy to do it. Which are the consequences? The pressure influences greatly on American youth.  Over 10 % of teenagers feel that they have to lie in order to have success. College admission levels have been reduced because of budget cuts. The Recovery Place claims that it can cause the situation, when high school students will look for other methods to be able to stand out among crowds. Doping may seem for teenagers to be the best alternative way.
American youth observe that many professional sportspeople have succeeded differently. Some of them did it due to their talents and intensive trainings; others took steroids and other related medications. If American youth follow those who dope, which will be the consequences?
Prolonged usage of steroids can lead to addiction to these products. Furthermore, steroid users may experience such undesirable consequences, as liver dysfunctions, cancer, high blood pressure, icterus, kidney dysfunctions and bad cholesterol. These side consequences are claimed to be dangerous; they may be life-threatening.
Of course, parents don’t want to see their children ill. They want their children to achieve goals because devotion to sports and hard trainings. But it is difficult to do it because many others cheat, using steroids. Now it is time to do everything to push out steroids. These products shouldn’t disturb to make real our dreams.
